Good times in Salt Lake City. Flew in early Saturday morning from SB. Took a nap and got a little cardio workout before heading to the gym. The girls played and somehow Jen won despite being ill. The men played and I came out the winner. Pretty much everyone blocked really well when they played with me. That is pretty much why I won. Casey was a beast at the net having at least 4 blocks if not 5. We went to a nice late night dinner at Radizio Brazilian Grill. Lot of protein via lot of meat. It was delicious. Then flew home midday today.
Have to say that Salt Lake is really beautiful this time of year. The snow all over the mountains surrounding the city is really pretty. Little cold but not terrible. Around 30 degrees or so and it was snowing when I arrived. Going to get lots of rain here at home now. We need it though.

Congrats on the win in Salt Lake.
Do you feel like there's still a lot of work to be done to get ready for the season opener in Panama City?
In light of all that's going on with A-Rod, are you guys tested and how often? And are you tested at every FIVB tournament?
You wouldn't like the 30 degree weather if you lived in it for months, no volleyball all winter here. But good job on your win! I hope to see you continuing your winning streak this summer.
Egads..I just went to the AVP site this morning to see if the schedule was out and saw the Whitmarsh news. When the tour came to Cape Cod in the early 90's I was doing my own workout on the beach and Whitmarsh was jogging near me. A great guy. I remember he had trouble with the heat and would regularly get taken to the hospital for dehydration. The players called the ambulance the "Whit-mobile". Later on he started taking salt pills and that seemed to help him with the dehydration. For any athlete to play two sports professionally like Whitmarsh did is amazing.
Mike Whitmarsh did a lot for the sport of beach volleyball and was a fierce competitor. My thoughts are with the entire volleyball community out there in California and the Whitmarsh family.
Sad to hear about Mike Whitmarsh. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family & friends. He was sorta like Phil before Phil was Phil!

Whitty always had a smile and a handshake for you. He raised the art of blocking to another level. Mike Dodd playing the back line, and Whitty being huge at the net, they were unstoppable at times. I will always remember their wins at Seal Beach.
One month and 2009 gets going. Are you getting stoked? Will you bring the Gold Medal?

Bummer that SB is out. Still So. Cal. gets 5; Riverside, San Diego, Huntington, Manhattan, and Hermosa. I am going to try to get to the Hampton's Open. Need to request time off now. If I go, I will stay with my brother and sister-in-law. All about work signing-off on it. '
