Brasil Exhibition

Flew down to Brasil 2 weekends ago. Played in a little exhibition down there. Really more of a business trip than anything else. Ended up travelling a little over 60 hours to get down there and back and was actually in Vitoria, Brasil for just over 40 hours.

Phil and I played Ricardo and Pedro Salgado. We won in two games. Neither team was real crisp as expected although Phil and I both felt that Ricardo was playing pretty good ball considering. Jen and April also came down and they played Larissa and Juliana. They put a bit of a beat down on the Brasilians winning easily in both games. Neither Juliana or Larissa was very good. First time I have ever seen Larissa play that way. The next day we played a 4X4 co-ed match. The Brasilians won in 3 close games. Because we won the first two games, we ended up winning the exhibition. The promoter said that 18 million people watched the 4X4 game. If that is true, all I can say is wow!

YES TODD LIVES. WOW that was a while between posts. If 18 million people watched the 4x4 in Brazil I would be shocked that it was not on in USA. Why didnt someone pick that up if 18 million people were truely watching it?
Becuase 18 million people DID NOT watch it.

Why such a petty comment on a Monday morning? It seems that people wanted to hear some news from him and so he took the time to blog. With almost 200 million people in Brazil what’s 18 million? But hey, what do promoters know?

Hey Todd: Have you and Phil actually started training for the new season? If so, how many hours a week do you put in this time of year, and how much of the training is straight volleyball and how much general conditioning, track work etc? Thanks and have a good year out on the beach.

Todd-
Like the Shawshank Warden said to Andy Dufresne after he did 60 days in solitary "Good to have you back". Looking forward to the AVP season...should be a great year. Scott from Cape Cod Mass.

Great to get a new post! Hope you and the family had a great holiday season. 18 million viewers? If we could only get that weekly for the NBC broadcasts. Congrats on the business trip win! Looking forward to hearing more from you in 2010!

Hey Todd,

I picked up another Mitch Albom book, " For One More Day." I will let you know what I think about it after I read it.

Hi, Todd! I'm a cousin from Illinois and I want to know if you will be playing in Chicago this summer (2010). Missed you there last summer and would like to see you play sometime this summer. Good luck and thanks!

Rogey, with all of this Winter Olympic talk currently headlining the news, and the subsequent inspiration it inherently produces, have you given any more thought as to whether you'll return and make another run at gold in London?

You could be one of the leads in NBC's marketing campaign with Kerri and Misty. No way you retire, right? I mean, double gold? You can't pass up that chance...

Hey Todd, as the 2010 schedule was released this week I'd love to get a pre-season outlook on a couple things from you.
1. The schedule
2. What International events do you plan on attending and were changes made to the bonus pool? or any other important changes to the FIVB?
3. Changes in the AVP
A. New Hires
B. New relationship with USAV?
C. New partnerships
D. New "tours" U26,the cali qualis and Grass Roots program.

Thanks, see you in Ft. Lauderdale.

AVP schedule didnt turn my turban but the deal with ABC and ESPN is FANTASTIC! I will be DVRing all the matches I cant watch live. Great development as I think the coverage will be the best since PRIME network did the matches 20 years ago.

Todd,

Hope you had a good off season and got to spend some quality time with the family. Just wanted to get your thoughts on the reduced tour schedule this year. My partner and I will be playing in the Quali in Ft. Lauderdale, I hope to get a chance to say hey while I am down there. Good luck on another great season.

Todd,

Saw the workout that you and Phil do on the beach on U-Tube. I was wondering if you could post it here. I am wanting to incorporate some of the exercises in my workouts, thanks.
