Well just got back from the Red Bull Spiked event in Dallas. Phil and I went out there Thursday and did a bunch of media on Friday and Saturday. Also on Saturday we played 3 games to 15 points against three 4-man teams in the rain. It was pretty fun. Red Bull put on this challenge essentially and 16 teams qualified over the last several weeks to play in a qualifier with the top 3 challenging us. I thought it would be pretty tough for us but we ended up winning 15-4, 15-8, and 15-8. All good times though.
In the 'Nati we ended up taking 2nd losing to Sean and John. In our first match we played Zimet and Morrison and won pretty easily 14 and 12. In our second game on Friday we played Loomis and Patterson. The first game we beat them fairly easily like 21-16. Then the second game was a battle with us coming out ahead 22-20. We had a bunch of fans from the Special Olympics out there cheering us on. It was very cool. Phil and I "sponsored" them and they got a cool t-shirt and we got some great fans.
On Saturday we only had the night game so we caught a movie. Do not go see Extract. Might simply be the worst movie I have ever seen. You have been warned. We played Nick and Brad at 9pm and won in two. I can't remember the scores though. On Sunday morning we played Aaron Watchfogel and Billy Strickland and beat them in two. They were close games though as they had a great tourney and finished 3rd. I kind of thought we escaped with the win. Then in the finals we lost in 2 games to Sean and John. The first wasn't that close like 16. The second we should have won as I had a sideout for game. John scooped me twice though and put it away and then Sean stuffed me and John scooped me. They again played well.
Nice to be home on the first weekend of NFL Sunday.

WOW it was even more fun to watch Sean and John beat you the seccond time on VERSUS!
Congrats on a great season, Todd! Have fun in Vegas this weekend, and best of luck at the tourney in Glendale.
It's been a lot of fun following you guys this year as well as getting to two of the tournaments.
Hey Todd,
I've got to believe Sean and John playing at such a high level will push you guys to an even higher level next year, with the extra competitive juices and all. Your battles with those guys are destined to go down as classics.
Good luck in Vegas! I'm rooting for you to win another KOB.
Thanks as always for blogging.
Drew
P.S. I unfortunately saw 'Extract' prior to getting your warning. Ughhh.

Actually, I really enjoyed the match because it was in HD. Sean and John had a lot of energy and were lucky in that second set. But all in all, it was a competitive season this year and those guys are the only ones who can give you a consistent game. Both Sean and John looked like they improved a lot this year.
Good luck against Brazil where we can root for all of you guys the same.
Steve

Phil is in an interesting field where he can test with Nick, John M, and Hans
I have been catching some of Phil and Todd's matches on Versus at all hours lately. They must have run out of hunting show footage. Geeter has been doing some great updates on Twitter. Todd you need to get up on Twitter with all the other athletes like Shawn Merriman and Estaban Ochocinco. On the other hand maybe not. Sorry to hear that movie sucked. If anyone out there isnt watching Mad Men you are missing the best TV show in the last 25 years. Same writer that did most of The Sopranos. Get the first 2 seasons on DVD. Season 3 is now 4 episodes in. The first week of NFL was great...Patriots should have lost but refused to lose. My fantasy team won too. Have a great time in Vegas....get your win on..Scott from Cape Cod
Hey Todd...you look like your doing well in Las Vegas. Good Luck. John and Sean both got bad breaks in this tournament. But that seems to be the way the King/God of the Beach Tourney goes. Some of those lower seeds always seem to sneak into this one. Nice to see.
Go John and Sean! Beat Brazil!
FUBAR
DUDE...I just got done watching the Finals from Best of the Beach in Las Vegas. Todd it looked like you needed a step ladder at the end of the game, your last 3 hits went either into the net or wide. What's up?? Was the sand deeper on your side?
Dude its a good thing you DO have Phil for a partner cause you LOOKED horendous without him.
Yeah Phil and John!
What is horendous? Do you mean horrendous?
We all have our talents…I guess spell check is not one of his.
I loved being able to watch the final last night! It’s too bad that Jeff’s knee was injured and then having to take a hit on it from under the net. =/ After the match the video just cutoff- never did see Phil crowned. You really sponged them in your first pool, but I guess the format of this tourney is what it is.
The way I see it, it’s not just the consistently awesome defense and siding-out that you do. It’s about your fluidity and style on the sand. Sensei-san gets first prize for flair. Always. I think they should have a king/queen of the flair! At the end of the season they could take all of the great attacks, digs, sets, blocks, saves and splice them using slow motion. All the fans could vote for the winners.
Me? It really bites not to be valued. I thought being on the court was the big goal…never knew I might not get many sets- lol. With patients, maybe my turn will come.
For you Doctor Who fans…the Christmas special will be here soon! We’ve been over a year without The Doctor. I’m going to cry when David Tennant dies.
PATIENCE
Only a classically trained dancer would think of “fluidity”. Miss you, Go! Haven’t beaten the O crowd since you left- need you! Remember that you worked hard to have options and don’t forget what they are. Good luck T & P this weekend.
Seriously, some of your comments are ruthless. I love how they're all anonymous. So, Extract is terrible huh? Jason Bateman and the hot chick from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and they couldn't get it done? Son of a ..... I was about to go see it. Well, probably saved me. Good luck in AZ. Bring some electrolytes. It's going to be 100+.
is phil for real?
That was pretty cool to watch. Congrats to the USA team! After playing against Phil in Vegas, I'm sure it was fun to have him back on your team!! Fun format, hope it stays. Maybe have USA vs the World and have the Germans come next year.
Congrats again...awesome ball by you and Phil.
Garret
Great Job Todd and Phil! Way to represent! I just wish Hyden/Scott would have done better.
Steve- Thanks. Hope to see you next year.
Drew- Bummer on "Extract". Phil won KOB so I am stoked for him. Something he has wanted for awhile.
Margo- Hope you were able to catch the match. Hope you won yours too.
Scott- Don't want to do the Twitter thing. Blogging is plenty for me.
Hansy- Good to hear from you. My wife says you should write a book because you are a great writer and have the best blog around. She hit me deep on that one. Don't even rent "Extract", it was painful to watch.
Garret- I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully we can go to Brazil and play the same tourney there and then have one here against Germany or China. I hope this is the start of a Davis Cup type tour.
Margo- Phil was silly! Will blog on that tourney. Really fun having team USA behind us.
Todd
