If you can't make it to the Vegas tourney you are missing out. Everyone has a lot of fun and it is very cool to see different teams out there. Often times it ends up being next years team.
Vegas is a tough tourney for the little guy. Even though I won last year, I think it was due in huge part to luck. In my pool were 3 big guys and me. The serves I did get I just shot them down. I think a little guy only has a chance in pool when there are 3 big guys with him or obviously 4 little guys in the pool.
This week the pools are as follows:
Pool 1: Rosy, Keenan, Casey and Fred
Pool 2: Gibb, Hyden, Furbs, and Dax
Those guys will join up with either:
Pool 3: Todd, Stein and....
Pool 4: Phil, Lambo and ....
For me, I am hoping for 2 little guys like Dax and Casey.
Couple of notes on this tourney. If you get to the final you cannot pick your partner from Cincinnati. So I would not be able to pick Phil or him me. Right now, I have no idea who I would pick. Last year I played with 3 big men and they were all pretty easy to play with. I played right side the whole time and Lambo, Jake, and Furbs played the left and got served every ball. Ended up going with old faithful in Sean Scott though. He isn't there this year so right now I have no idea. Would be really fun to play with Dax to run the old offense we used to run. Probably couldn't score a real point but we would have fun siding out.
If I were a betting man I would be looking for the big guy with long odds. Last year Nygaard went off at either 30-1 or 18-1. Darn good bet considering he made it to the finals. Someone could have made some serious money if he had won.
Hope to see you out in the desert. Should be a scorcher.

I can't believe I am up right now at 2am in Nashville TN after such a long day but I could not sleep. I came downstairs and started catching up on volleyball and your blog. Congrats to you and Phil on your win in Cinci and your march towards Vegas. I pray your back continues to hold up as you finish the season strong...

On the AVP site, it says you played with Metzger. For how many tournaments and how'd you guys do?
Good luck. Hope you and Phil play each other in the finals. It'll be interesting to see who you guys pick.
I won't jinx you with my picks until saturday!!

Finally got to watch Boston on the AVP.com. I was amazed at that perfect one armed stab set you made off of Phil's overhead dig. SICK!
Also loved your bow to Geeter during your introduction in Cincy.
Sorry these comments were a little late.

Todd,
Is the Croc's cup a plaque trophy or do you and Phil keep it? If so who gets the honors or do you split it 6 months a year?
While I'm quite sure the cup won't pass from your's or Phil's hands, it seems to me there was an old restaurant in SB replete with VB pics from yesteryear (can't remember the name) not a bad neutral ground. Too bad Cold Springs Tavern closed (geographically neutral). Then again it probably would have ended up a Harley Hood Ornament

Go get em Todd in Vegas. I am not well versed in Casino games but when I hit Foxwoods I play roullette with some success. The AVP should have a Texas Hold Em Tourney for all of the players (male and female) and see who wins. If you want to make some real cash take the money line for the Jets beating the Patriots on Sunday. Coach Man-genius is inside the Pats heads....Have a great weekend everyone! Scott from the Cape
Todd, nice dig average, and hitting percentage in Las Vegas.

Thanks Dave D.
Garrett- I played with Stein in Brasil in 2000. We took 7th.
Jeff- Crocs Cup is a trophy and we get our names engraved in it and the AVP keeps it. Frankly, much better that way. I would just break it. Cold Springs Tavern isn't closed. Going there next week actually. Still unbelievably good, but expensive, food.

Hi Todd,
I saw your match with John via Internet. You guys really clicked! I'm looking forward to seeing you in-person in nearby SF this weekend.
One thing that you are your obviously great hops. There aren't many 6'2" guys that are getting way over the net like you. (It was fun seeing you block in your match with John - you got some nice ones!) Have you always been a good jumper, or have you developed that ability through plyo and the like? I'm motivated to get on a plyo routine this Winter - how much improvement do you hear of people gaining through a good program?
Thanks! Drew from SC
Gee CST must have reopened as friends and I were there for "the last of the good old days" September 29, 1996. Even have the T-shirt. Is it still the quiet old rustic cabin or has it been remodeled?
