AVP Banquet

It was a good haul for Phil and I at last nights AVP End of the Year Banquet. Took home a fair amount of hardware and had some good laughs with friends.

We both took home the Team of the Year award and more importantly the Crocs Cup Trophy. That was our second biggest goal of the year behind winning the World Championships. Our names are engraved on a beautiful trophy and we both received a nice crystal piece for the mantle.

I received the Best Defender of the year award for the fourth straight time. Had to share the award with Rosy but that's okay by me. I figure he and Nick will be vying for that award for a long time much as Casey and I have been vying for it over the past 6 or 7 years. Even though I shared it this year, hopefully I can retain it while I am still playing. Tough to do though when Phil is shadowing 2/3 of the court with his block. Not that I am complaining mind you. :)

Phil was the Best Offensive player for the third straight year and what will probably amount to about 10 straight years by the time he is finished playing.

He also supplanted me as the Tour's MVP this year. Most definetely deserved though as he had my vote for these past 2 years. I think I mainly got it in 2006 for my role in helping him to develop as a player rather than for how well I played. Hopefully he can maintain his MVP status for years and years to come.

Todd-

Congrats again on your trophies. They are well deserved and thanks for the training info, and for even having this blog and taking the time to respond to questions.

What makes BVB so great is the accessibility (sp?) we get. I don't know of any other sport where you can pay $20 for a full day, stand right next to the pros and watch them warm up, and actually get a response from a web posting.

I really hope the tour continues to grow for all of you so that you can make some real money. By the same token, I hope the access stays high. Thanks again for doing this for us and enjoy your off season.

Todd-
All your hard work paid off this year and you are at the top of your profession. Now the REALLY hard part is staying there and fighting off all the teams that want to bring you down. You and Phil are poised for greatness so keep things rolling and we will all be behind you guys 100% in 2008. Enjoy the time off...Scott from Cape Cod

Todd -

Thanks for your commitment to your fans via this BLOG. I got tuned into it late in the season after your visit to my backyard in Mason (Cincinnati).

My questions relates to your travels. Have you found some good places to eat in the cities you travel to? Good enough that you plan on re-visiting them when you get back?

Count me among your loyal legion.

No offense Todd, but what the hell were you wearing at the AVP awards banquet? Honestly, you're a hell of a player but you looked like an LA Sleezeball! Take a lesson from your partner or just about every other person there!

Todd-

Congrats on the awards. Here are two limericks in honor of you and Phil. What a great season. I look forward to 08 :)

(safe from the fires)

The Professor

His wisdom is beyond compare
His line-shot is almost unfair
When the Beast sets it right
"Please, Phil, not too tight!"
Lambo will claw at thin air

The Beast

The Thin Beast is throwing his knife
His heat causes volleyball strife
When his hand reaches out
His opponents feel doubt
Then they play hubby-and-wife

Kudos to you and Phil for your well-deserved awards! You two are phenomnenal and will long be rankd among the top AVP pairs of all times.

On an unrelated note, can you descrbe your experience with the Green Flash movie (e.g. your being asked, your role, your thought about the movie).

Thanks,
Steve (East Coast)

Those limericks are TIGHT!

OK - I don't imagine Todd envisioned his blog becoming poetry hour, but I think some haiku's to celebrate the awesome season are in order:

Phil sets sweet nectar,
Todd's wrist swivels so sickly,
Steino yells, pounds sand.

Phil leers from above,
Arms outstretched far darken sky,
Todd strolls to scoop, grins.

Jsev- Thanks. I agree with you that the accessibility is very high with beach volleyball. I think every beach volleyball player has it in the back of his and her mind to keep it that way.

Thanks Scott.

Mike- Yes I have found some good spots. Usually forget about them until I am back in the cities I am at. Also, the AVP has gone to so many new cities this past year that you had to search out new ones in over half the stops.

Anonymous- I will let my wife know what you thought. By the way, if you had seen the past couple of banquets you would say where I was coming from. I was, to say the least, overdressed. Over it already though.

Dave & Drew - Very nice. I will be sure to share with Phil.

Steve- Green Flash was very cool. I know the director as he played ball back in the day. I hope it is a good movie that people can latch onto. Perhaps it will introduce people to the guys and gals that play the game now and create some new fans. It is a small cameo that Phil and I. All we had time to do basically. But fun.

Annonymous....For the records I did pick out the outfit for Todd. However, it was not worn as directed. I recommended tucking in the shirt, wearing a belt and cleaning up the look with a sport coat. Tie optional. No blaming the wife on this one. Nice try Todd...love mel

Good day, sun shines!
There have were times of troubles when I felt unhappy missing knowledge about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright pessimistic person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in big initial investment.
Now, I feel good, I started to get real income.
It gets down to select a proper companion who utilizes your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real business, and shares the profit with me.

You can ask, if there are such firms? I'm obliged to answer the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
