Todd and Phil are in the Finals against the Netherlands. NED just got their asses kicked by the Russians in the Euro Championships for soccer. Lets kick these ham and eggers to the curb and win GOLD in Paris. I will try to catch the live streaming. Like in the movie European Vacation I will be celebrating Todd and Phils win in the Finals with a "Champagne du American".....Coca Cola (with Capt Morgans) GOOD LUCK GUYS!

Great win over Brazil in the semis! It's great being able to watch the FIVB's streaming of the semis and finals. Things were looking a little precarious down 21-20 in the second game, but great job on the two straight digs for points. Oh, and was I the only one that thought Phil had a new partner? I didn't recognize Todd after he shaved.

Good luck in the final!

Awesome semis...didn't think that Harley/Pedro could score 3 real points when Todd and Phil only needed 4 sideouts to win the match. Phil's setting in the second game got a little erratic and Todd couldn't side out for a few points but then Phil's jump serve came alive. Netherlands, from seeing a little bit of the other semi's, had sick jump serves. Here's hoping for gold in the finals. As for the women, it's going to be all-american for the medals ceremony so congrats to all of them.

USA USA!!!! Sick dig for a point by Todd and sick co-covers by Todd & Phil in game one. Great blocking by Phil and Todd was the digging machine. Game 2 was a little sloppy(Netherlands hit an overpass out!) but Todd & Phil steadied out at the end and put it away. Congrats on the awesome win.
Todd, saw you putting sand on the ball before serving when you were down 10-11 game 2. Does that make the ball float more?

WELL DONE TODD!

Now was that sand or some sort of mysterious goop in that you were rubbing on the ball? :>} My have to call on Senator Arlen Spector to investigate the matter. :>}

USA! USA! USA!

Todd,

After watching you and Phil DESTROY Nederlands in the FIVB final, my excitement about beach volleyball is renewed. I have really been missing MOSAIC and live feeds at the AVP website.

I am planning to go to Boulder and see you all play in Folsom Field (you are going, right?). I used to watch the tourney's back in the late 80's at South Boulder Rec Center. That was awesome!

In celebration of your victory and your amazing momentum, I have crafted a couple of limericks. I hope you enjoy them :p

Phil

There once was a tall man named Phil
Who blocked the ball almost at will
He ventured to France
Put on short pants
And dazzled Pari with his skill

Todd

There was a beach player named Todd
Today I thought he looked odd
Then it hit me
He shaved his goatee
And he played like a volleyball god

Best of luck on your march to Beijing.

Click above where it says USA Rules Paris and see if it takes you to the FIVB pic of the 4 American teams with medals in Paris. Great computer background. Congrats to all of our teams on a super result. The French must love seeing us "ugly" Americans walk away with all the cash and prizes. THIS IS SWEET!!! Does anyone know if you can watch the FIVB streams from an archive? I am at a damn wedding down in Baltimore and didnt have time to watch live this morning. Also a rumor that Todd was offered a modeling contract while in Paris thus the clean shave....OOO LA LA !! Congrats...Scott from Cape Cod

todd, great win in paris....can you keep shaving until after olympics???????????????? You look 10 years younger than phil.. and for some crazy reason i think most of the planets are officially out of alignment....don't you agree scott from cape cod......alan beverly/birmingham, al

Scott- Hope you got your Champagne du American. The Niederlanders were still depressed from their loss the night before. Modeling pays better than volleyball if you can get the big contracts.

USA Vb Fan- Thanks. I was incognito.

Garret - Thanks. The sand on the ball is because it is wet from sweat or water. The fair player in me wants a dry ball to send over the net regardless of whether they hand set or not. There are a lot of guys that put their sweat on the ball and I could name a bunch of them but will refrain from doing so. Part of the game but a part I refuse to take part in. No extra float or anything.

Arsenal - See above.

Dave - Good to hear from you. Been awhile. Glad Phil and I were able to rekindle the old flame. Great poetry as well. thank you. Will not be in Boulder. Will be in Russia. Will explain why in a blog or two.

Alan - My kid brother sometimes substitutes for me. :)
