Todd and Phil won their first match against a German team I see. There are some great photos of Todd and Phil in action over at the FIVB Beach site. I went to Germany once but didnt like it...too many foreigners.

Todd and Phil go 2-0 today. That is great. Germany loses to Croatia in soccer so it must be like a national day of mourning over there. The booze must be flowing...BIG TIME.

Todd-
Well you can see if the phrase "misery loves company" is true with the Lakers blowing a 24 point lead and the German soccer team losing. Drown you sorrows with some strong German beer! If Lakers get closed out Sunday night LA might never be the same.Good luck against the Swiss in Round 1. I noticed in the seedings you get the #15 seed and the #2 team gets the #21 seed. Is that screwy? ..Scott

The World Champs have rolled into the semifinals and will face the team from Spain. Hopefully they are as soft as their countryman Pau Gasol. Kerri and Misty have already won so lets get an American sweep in Germany...GO USA!!! Both of my cars broke down this week so I am taking it easy this weekend. We are leaving for a vacation in Florida in 2 weeks so I am broke.....Scott

I was following your finals match with live scoring, then discovered the live streaming video...which made me leave about an hour and a half later than I wanted to for the gym. Oh well! Great match...a couple of plays here and it could have gone your way. Congratulations!

****SPOILER ALERT DONT READ THIS IF YOU ARE GOING TO WATCH THE BERLIN FINALS ON TAPE..DONT READ THIS*****
I watched the last two games of the Berlin Final. Great way to start my Fathers Day with some beach volleyball. You can boil it down to 11-11 in Game 3. That is when it all fell apart for our World Champs. At 11-11 Brazil hits an ace down the middle that caught the back of the tape on the base line and then at 12-11 Brazil blocks Phil after a long rally to go 13-11. In Game 2 Todd got a bad call on a Brazil touch and then let a dig opportunity go and it caught the last fiber of the sideline tape. Brazil seemed to catch all the breaks in the last 2 games. There wasnt any commentary on the stream but the head ref seemed to speak perfect english. But that bad call seemed to put the Brazilians over the top. On the final play at 14-13 Phil blocked line and the Brazilian went sharp angle for the win. Looked like a lot of Brazilians in the stands but the atmosphere seemed dead on a cloudy day in Berlin. Todd and Phil didnt seem to be into the scene and maybe could have used a little Tim Hovland spice in their game to break the Brazilians momentum. Happy Fathers Day to Todd and everyone else on the blog. Congrats on the Silver Medal and everyone have a GREAT WEEK! Scott from Cape Cod

Todd,

I agree with Garrett a few plays either way and the victory was yours. One question I have, was the ace that put it at 11-12 a hubby/wife ace or did you both call it out? It was hard to tell and the replay via the live streaming froze up for a second or two on me. Anyway's great work and way to represent the USA this week. Good luck in Paris this week.

Don't count the Lakers out yet. Ain't over till its over. Although I have to admit it is looking grim.

Scott/Arsenal- I enjoyed the finals. Great match that unfortunately we were a point away. Phil actually was blocking angle on the last play, not line. Emmanuel just snuck it under him and not high enough for me to run it down. The Ace by Ricardo was a hubby/wife that I thought was out and called it as such. Phil had been taking middle as they were serving me 95% of the balls. I called it out and was surprised when it went in.
