Missin' San Diego

Unfortunately Phil and I will not be playing in the San Diego event this coming weekend. Phil wanted to rest up for Beijing to make sure he was ready. I would have liked to play to stay in the groove but will enjoy the extra time I get to hang with the family. Plus I can get some extra workouts in that I would not have been doing if I had been playing in San Diego. For all of you that were coming to watch Phil and I play, I apologize. Would have liked to see you all but it will have to wait until next year if the AVP goes to San Diego.

Enjoy the well deserved rest, charge the batteries, get present and see you in Beijing

I have to agree with Phil on this one. There was a chick on the US Soccer team who broke her leg in a tune up game vs Brazil and that gymnast Hamm isnt going either with an injury. But I see Todds point about staying sharp and probably bringing home 10 large is nice for the bank account. Todd, will you try to adjust your body to the Beijing time before leaving? Is anyone giving you advice on tht like the USOC? Well you people now have Manny Ramirez, Nomar and boozehound Derek Lowe. We might as well send Ortiz out there too. Good luck....Scott from Cape Cod

Hey Todd, I thought you were going to comment something about the group you got in Beijing. I hope it goes well for you, I´m sure you´ll be at least in the finals, probably against Emanuel-Ricardo, but then again everything is really leveled, specially in the seedings 1 to 10. I´ll be watching you guys against Conde-Baracetti (you and Conde are the best defensive players I´ve ever seen so I hope I get to see a nice match) and probably suffering...
Greetings from Argentina!

Have you figured out how you are going to do your workouts etc and stay prepared for the matches? Seems like it will be a bit different playing one match every other day for pool play and same sort of schedule for the rest of the matches. At least everyone is in the same boat but some have been there before!
See you in Beijing!

Todd,

I'm slightly bummed that you and Phil are missing San Diego but I understand your reasons. I look forward to cheering you on at the Olympics!

I also agree with Phil on this one. I can only imagine how much of a toll all the traveling, training and playing this year takes on your body.
Maybe a week off will have the same effect as it had on Rosie/Gibb.
Did you go through processing yet? Would love to read your blog on that. Enjoy the week off and good luck and best wishes on a smooth trip to Beijing and great ball by you and Phil.

I usually root against you guys on the domestic tour (just cuz I like underdogs) but I will be rooting hard for you guys(as well as Rosie- Gibb) for the next two weeks. I would go with the mindset of "It's just another tournament" and try not to overthink everything.

Good luck.

Jeff- Sounds good.

Scott- Probably not. When we get there we will adjust. It is 15 hours ahead. Which unless you switch your day and night it is pretty much impossible to do it. USOC has given us advice if we want it. Appreciate if you could send Ortiz.

Argentina - Will do so.

JR- Probably do workouts after our matches even if that means working out late night. Still figuring that part out.

Dave- Bummed too. Thanks though.

Garett- Went through processing. Not much to tell except we got a lot of stuff and everything took forever it seemed like.

Anonymous - Thanks. Would be nice if both teams did well.
