BLOG Possibilities

Since I am now on break I wanted to let everyone know that I will try and catch up on past blogging particularly from the Olympics. I also wanted to ask all of you if you had anything specific you wanted me to blog about? Figure I would throw that out there and see what you guys want to know more about.

Happy 35th birthday Todd! Just a few questions for you. I see where Kerri is playing in dubai with Nicole, and surely this is due to Misty dancing with the stars. I also know that KWJ/MMT are trying to start families, so who do you see as possible pairings if only 1 of them were to become pregnant? Other question is concerning the avp end of the year awards banquet, is it open to the public or is it for players only? Also, for some reason I feel like you will be doing a lot of surfing during the offseason...Have a great 35th birthday todd with your family sir....alan beverly/birmingham, al

Happy Birthday Todd! Congrats on a great season...both in the AVP and the Olympics :-)

Hey Todd, happy birthday. Since most of us won't set foot in an Olympic or even AVP center court venue I think we'd enjoy learning about how you prepared your self mentally and physically during the Olympic games...what were your eating habits, daily routine's, etc. Did you sleep well at night or were you (like most of us would be) staring at the ceiling every night with your mind and nerves racing? I'd be curious to hear "stuff" like that...just put myself in the mind of an Olympian during the peak of his career.

Happy Birthday Todd! Hope you'll get to enjoy your vacation time with your family. Can't wait to see you on next season! It would be fun to hear more about your experiences on the Olympics... like what do you when you are not playing on the court.

happy birthday

i'd be interested in reading about your coaching days. like... how you got into it, maybe a funny story (?), what/if you did anything else and how you balanced that, blah blah :) and if your players taught you lessons while you were trying to teach them.

Lucky, being in middle America, I have a beach volleyball court I can go practice at within a short walk. Saw On Misty's page she had training vid but not really for beach volleyball side of it. Which they were nice but would be cool if you could do some Youtube based ones on the beach volleyball aspect and embed or link them here. Does not have to be all studio, just looking for the basic moves. The sand part of the game really does make a big difference.

Ok, not finished yet. Read one of the post here. that talked about AVP radio. Sucks, I cant get my computer to run it anyway, I use Linux not Windows or Mac.
But would be nice if AVP had a Youtube channel that had the matches in full length. AVP does have some of the matches on the site but just highlights. Saw AVP TV but it had an expired secure connection error don't know if that is fixed. but yeah I am left with the in progress option. Using the internet to get out the beach volleyball matches seems like the perfect medium. but then again it may already be available just not aware of it. If money was in question or rights, you could have commercials in the videos as well.Just what ever, to get it to the fans.

I "are" one. :D

Todd,
If you do run that tournament on your homecourt, I would love to hear about it, especially if it's KOB format. If it's not too personal, I would also like to know what new opportunities or sponsors have come out of you & Phil getting the GOLD in Beijing(i.e. any local car dealer commercials or morning show interviews). Also probably too soon to think about but what your goals are for you & Phil for 2009. Can't possibly top 2008. In fact if you called it a career, it'd already be a great one. That's all I could think of for now. Hope you had a great birthday!

Are you playing with Sean Scott in Dubai?

Hi Todd,

I'm guessing one of the biggest challenges to being successful with any of your doubles teams is your relationship with your partner. With all of the time you spend together training, practicing, playing, and traveling, it seems inevitable that you'd have conflict, differences in opinion, and just plain crankiness from pressure and tiredness.

On top of the fact that any two people would have challenges being partners for a whole season, you and Phil seem to have completely opposite personalities. I'd love to hear anything you're willing to share here in-terms of how you've been able to make this work with Phil and your past partners.

Happy birthday and a VERY happy off season to you, Todd.

Hi Todd-
Of course I want to hear the details of the Olympic experience unless you are saving that for a book. Any ghost writers contacting you yet? I think an interesting topic would be a comparison of how the FIVB runs things versus how the AVP does. I know you cant be too critical but maybe tell us what each does best. It seems like the AVP has bent over and completely changed its rules and protocol to be like the FIVB. I think the AVP was more exciting before the rally scoring and court altering. Plus things like the walk to center court to shake hands pre-match is so European and annoys me. The AVP needs to set itself apart. Anyway enjoy the time with the family, suck down some nice wines and have a great off season!!! Scott from Cape Cod

Another idea...how about you remembrances of your first win on the AVP tour, your very first tournament, who you played with and any stories like Phil where he and Nick slept on the beach before tourneys...you go through anything like that?

Happy Birthday Todd

If the FIVB is truly a international tour, then why haven't they returned to the United States?

todd, thought of more stuff/questions; any truth to leonard leaving avp and karch taking over? also, fivb seems to put a lot of info out there, with exact time schedules. I know that matt gage has been doing this long enough that he can put something together to put on website. Also i loved avp tv last year, but it was a little choppy at times or line would break...any chance that this could come back as a package since nbc/fox sports doesn't give me ALL of the matches/venues...alan beverly/birmingham alabama

Also wondering what your thoughts on maybe some sort of co-ed exhibition.
You & Kerri against Phil & Misty or maybe two blockers and a female player? I think it'd be fun, not sure how the who could serve who would work but...

Alan- Will answer those questions here. Kerri's best options are Nicole and April. See how Nicole and Kerri do. Then see if Kerri gets pregnant or not. I don't know about the end of the year banquet being for public or not. Had a good bday with the family and you might catch me in the water in about 4 hours if the winds stay calm. :)

klar- Thank you.

Daniel- Bummer the radio stuff doesn't come across better. Hopefully the AVP TV stuff will come back. I know I had a lot of friends and family that loved that.

Jboehman - I am not playing with SS in Dubai. I pulled out and Nick is playing with Sean.

Margo- Glad I can help inspire. Best of luck.

Everyone Else - I will try and get to your questions. Lot of stuff on Olympics so I will try and cover that and then go from there.

Todd,
Could you please give some pointers on playing defense? Thought process, what are you looking for, how to stay relaxed. I would consider you the best defender behind the block I have ever seen and would like to learn more.

Thanks
David

I would be interested to know more about your growing up years, parents, and siblings, and how they influenced your career path then and now.
